Specialties

Services provided include general and emergency medicine, respiratory medicine, neurology, cardiology, gastro-enterology, endocrinology, medicine for the elderly, rheumatology and rehabilitation, dermatology, clinical haematology and genito-urinary medicine. The Trust also provides general, urological and vascular surgery, accident and emergency, trauma and orthopaedics, ophthalmology, ENT, oral surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics & gynaecology and oncology.  Specialist clinical support services are well provided for, including an excellent diagnostic imaging department (with MRI and spiral CT) and a comprehensive pathology department.  Child and adolescent psychiatry is provided by the Trust in a new unit on the old PMH site and houses in-patient facilities for the district as well as local out-patient services for the assessment and treatment of a wide range of emotional problems occurring between birth and the end of full-time education.  Additional services are provided by adjacent hospitals.
