Yeovil Gen Hospital has 322 beds and provides in/outpatient services in gen & respiratory medicine, cardiology, urology, paediatrics, care of the elderly, rheumatology, gastroenterology, diabetes, dermatology, surgery, trauma & orthopaedic surgery, gynaecology, obstetrics, A&E, ENT, oral/maxillary-facial surgery, orthodontics, radiology, histopathology and haematology.

Specialties

The work of the Department, under the supervision of 11 Consultant Anaesthetists, involves the anaesthetic care of general surgical, orthopaedic, urological, gynaecological, obstetric and ENT patients.  In addition, an epidural service is provided for the labour ward, there is an acute and chronic pain service, and a busy 4-bedded ITU and 4-bedded HDU, all of which are run by the Department.  The junior staff complement is 4 StRs in years 1/2 and 10 Middle Grade Doctors.
